Cycle path crossings

Cycle junction routes Holten area

From the holiday home The Woodpecker there is a beautiful environment for cycling. A good way to do this is to follow the intersection routes. The routes allow you to reach special places, including narrow paths and different landscapes. It leads through the forests of Salland, agricultural landscapes, vast heaths, along rivers and streams in beautiful green surroundings.

Holterberg route with Palthétoren, length 63.55 km

This route is a variant over the Holterberg with a section through Nieuw Heeten and Okkenbroek on the west side.  This cycle path over the Sallandse Heuvelrug also leads over many heathlands and rolling hills. In short, enjoy the view from the Holterberg and admire the Palthé Tower (see photo below) of the Sprengenberg.Haarle Sprengenberg Toren van Palthe

It is the house on Sprengenberg Hill, built in 1898–1910 on the orders of A.A.W. van Wulfften Palthe (1851–1929). The house is not open to the public. Pathé owned the land around the hill, where he hunted regularly. In 1898 he had a tea house built where people could recover from hunting. Originally, the house was intended as a hunting and holiday home, but later Pathé himself moved.

Course Along the beautiful length of the Regge 53.41 km

A nice bike ride is a route along the river De Regge. From the holiday home it is a short bike ride to the starting point, junction number 63 in Zuna, near Rijssen. Follow the Midden-Regge river and discover the varied area of Twente with this cycling route. As you can see in the photo, the Regge is beautiful due to the combination of water and nature. The Midden-Regge is a natural river system over a distance of ten kilometres. Since the distance to the starting point is about 5 to 6 km, the total distance is well over 60 km. One way to shorten the route a little is to cross from junction 4 to junction 34.

Route ‘Rondje Holterberg’ Length 32.41 km

One of our favourite cycling routes from holiday home De Bonte Specht is the route ‘Rondje Holterberg’. It is a matter of jumping on the bike, crossing the road to junction number 70, and you are in the forest and also at the starting point of the route.  This is followed by a beautiful route over changing landscapes, forests and heathlands. In Nijverdal at the Sallandse Heuvelrug open-air centre and in the centre of Holten on the terraces, there are great moments to get off your bike and have lunch or an ice cream sundae, for example.
